How To Be A Good Friend To Yourself…

The School of Life videos are brilliant. Thoughtful and well researched, they address issues that we all face at one time or another. This particular video is highly relevant to the practice of mindfulness. Mindfulness is fundamentally  being a friend to oneself. Giving oneself time and space, and a listening ear. As Micheal Leunig puts so beautifully in his short poem, ‘Sitting on The Fence”:

 

Come and sit down beside me,

I said to myself,

And although it doesn’t make sense,

I held my own hand

As a small sign of trust

And together I sat on the fence.
